Man, I want to see this movie so bad. >_<
It really wasnt, it was just as bad and the acting was just as awful in the old movies. The thing is that the new movies arent as flat-out entertaining (although I maintain that Phantom Menace was pretty fucking fun, I really enjoyed it, but I didnt care for Episode 2) and that we are more cynical and jaded. Perhaps Episode 3 is getting such good reviews because it is cynical and jaded in tone.(On afterthought, maybe some of the acting was better in the older movies so as to where the cheesiness of the lines just wasnt recognizable).

Holy shit I'm so excited.
Eh, I'd say at least Harrison Ford kicked the shit out of anyone in the NT. The writing sucked, but he actually managed to do things with it. And even though Mark Hammil is hardly the best actor ever, he was still a much better leading man than Hayden is.Originally Posted by diffusionx
I think the other problem is that there's simultainiously too much and not enough going on in the prequels. A lot of "stuff" happens, but not much of it is important in regards to the central plot (Anakin grows up to be Vader). So all the other plot elements become deadening, while the central plot is thin enough to be fit in one movie rather than three. There's a huge lack of focus in episodes I and II, and although I agree that Phantom Menace is actually pretty fun, Attack of the Clones really suffers from this.
Basically, the OT was good because it was focused, it had fun characters who were decently developed, and it had a nifty story to tell. The NT is clinical and feels like three movie's worth of just setting everything up.
I always felt like the actors in the OT delivered their lines better. =\ To many of the NT actors give dry deliveries.
Luke and Anakin both whine a lot, but Any is the only one I want to punch in the face. Whiney angsty bitch.
The actors in the original Trilogy just exhibited a lot more charm and personality than the new guys. Like IP said, they just come off as too dry.

Put it this way. Billy Dee Williams was better than anyone else in the new movies. Ya, the guy who starred in Colt 45 commercials.
Maybe save Ewan McGregor. I think he has been really good. I think I am more interested in Obi Wan than any other character in the NT.
