If you've read any of the books, you'd have been prepared for yoda's little advice. That's why the Jedi life a monastic life, so they can be as selfless as they need to be. It's not an ideal life, being a Jedi. You probably wouldn't want to be one.
Look what happened to Anakin. he loved someone, cared for her, and let that love blind him. Like the love for his mother. It's too emotional to keep you in control. It makes sense and it's been Star Wars canon for a while.
More fanservice. Like the inside of the blockade runner shot and bridge of the star destroyer shot.Originally Posted by Dylan1cc

Yeah, I have used spoiler tags before, but i got lazy this time and copied the word "SPOILERS" and then tried to wrap it in brackets plurally which of course didn't work. haOriginally Posted by MechDeus

Also, Qui Gon's dialogue in the book further reinfoces the fact that the Jedi should have allowed marriage and families. Instead, they are so rigid they view marriage and families as 100% risk. Lucas has said several times in interviews that (not verbatim but very close) "Luke suceeds because he has a strong sense of family, and family is what brings Vader back." Of course, Anakin has a strong sense of family too, but since the Jedi have become so detached from people (especially Mace IMHO) he is in a position where Palpatine can warp his sense of family and draw it out to full on obession and insanity.
It's just my viewpoint, but the Jedi who are so sensitive to the element of fear actually have a somewhat blatant form of fear in their order: fear of family and fear of love. You can care about people but you can't love them because "love leads to fear of loss"? That line of reasoning destroys them. Whattaya think sirs?
Oh yes, and good on Luke for marrying Mara Jade (and yeah, that should be canon, Lucas actually reads the comics and really likes them, he has even taken a few tid bits from them like Jango's wrist bladefor one, there are some others I am not aware of because there are a lot of them i haven't read yet. Some of the expanded universe stuff is really goofy and laughable though of course)

Ugh, yes. KJA. Ugh.
WOW! Dylan, I feel exactly the way you do about all the points you brought up.
and about Grievous and his cough... Is it possible they included that from him getting his chest crushed in by Mace Windu in the Clone Wars cartoon? If so thats damn cool.

Yeah, I actually speculated on that in the clone wars thread that when Mace crushes his chest plate it causes him to hunch down. Still though, look at the concept paintings for him, he looks so much more scary and menacing.Originally Posted by EvilMog007
I still liked him though, slightly better than Jango I will add. Lucas said in Empire magazine, "He's a different kind of villian. He's really sly and slimy." He does come off nice 'n slimy in a fun comic book cheese way. Still liked him better in the animated shorts though. Also, Matthew Wood did a nice job giving him a more unique voice but it would have been a lot more interesting to have heard John Dimaggio be his voice actor in the film.
Ha!, I was wondering the same thing. There was like a semingly one day jump between Vader's mechinization, and him standing amongst the Empire-uniformed conscripted men.Originally Posted by Cowutopia
Yeah, that's the reason he's not such a badass. Though I think it just makes things easier since trying to choreograph a really good prolonged fight with a four-armed CGI character and an actor would be a huge pain. However, it does bring up one interesting point, are the Clone Wars catroons canon?Originally Posted by EvilMog007
You got to be thinking though that Palpatine has been planning this for a long time. Getting the right people behind him to start the Empire (Vader, Tarkin, etc), that's why I think he had TIEs and Imperial Naval heirarchy ready.Originally Posted by Core Boy
Time for a change
I wasn't truly excited about the new movie until I was waiting in line with the 500 other rabid fans that came for the midnight showing (or 'showings' rather).
All in all, this is the first SW in like... 5 years that I walked away feeling satisfied. I fell asleep for a few minutes, but I blame the waiting in line part. Overall, I liked it.
Mind you I hated the other two movies.
