What is it with the two new people on the boards posting in political threads? TNL has enough political extremists as is and plenty of moderates, go post in the Gaming Discussion forum and stay out of our TNL politics!

I'm sort of joking, not saying you're a dumb noob or anything but we have politics coming out the ass here.

    Trying to differentiate yourselves, hm?

  4. I'm as burnt out on this whole thing as most people so I've only read all of page 1 and the few posts on this page, but I agree with Mike in a way. My political emotions are exhausted, the public proved to me that it hates thinking but loves to feel good no matter the consequences, and the next four years of politics are going to make me even more ashamed and embarassed to be American than the previous four. At least the last four years were a result of a screwed up election, this time the people made a clear choice.

My brain, on the other hand, says that it's not going to impact me directly, I live in a section of the country that voted my way, and that in four years we can try again with something better. It doesn't change that I've been tired and snappish all day and never want to think about this stupid election again, but at least I know it's not hopeless.

Still, when I think of what Guantanamo Bay means to George Bush's veiws on the Bill of Rights I get gloomy. I think I'll spend the next four years skimming the news and playing games, distracting myself with cheap entertainment.

  5. Just wanted to mention, that in anger my comment about Bush drinking didnt come off right... im not defending drunk drivers, my apologies.

My point remains however, that Bush is an old man who has learned through lifes lessons.

Did I hold shit against Kerry for what he did in Nam.. no.... what I couldn't float for with the guy was the swaying of positions and the "I have a plan" spiel without any meat on the bone to explain how he going to do it.

Am I against gay people having equal rights? Of course not..... am I against them changing the underlying meaning of a religious institution when they could just as easily be given the same rights under the banner of a civil union? You better believe I am.

Lets look at it this way, we have marriage which was established through religion as the joining of a man and a woman.. the same religious groups that are against gay relationship of any kind and therefore are offended when said people wish to claim the name for their own good and in affect ruining the name or meaning of that which is an important part of the values of religion.

    ok

Lets flip this around, look at Kwanzaa... (now this is extreme but follow me) what if... lets say a group like the KKK wanted to take Kwanzaa and start using that as a special white people are better then everyone else day.

Do you think that African Americans would get pissed?

Of course they would, here they are celebrating their heritage.. something that is special to them.. and some group which stands for the opposite of what they stand for wants to ruin its good name.

Is the marriage thing only acceptable because bashing fat white religion nuts is popular?

Or is it so because we are all p.c and dont want to offend anyone unless they are fat white religious nuts?

It comes down to common sense.... change the name but give them the same.

  7. I guess it was pretty cold, but he was being a dick. Like only conservatives work hard and all liberals are slackers that rely on handouts. It's not the first time he's made broad, ridiculous generalizations about liberals and it gets on my nerves.

Besides, if he didn't want heat about the mail order bride he shouldn't have posted about it.

  8. Gore was an awful candidate, but I fail to see how Kerry is bad at all. I'm sure it's been debated all over these political threads i don't read, but i never see any exaplanation of what's so bad. All the flip flopper crap is just rhetoric from the Bush camp. People heard it so much they decided to believe it. Kerry is smart, a terrific speaker, supports people's rights, stem cell research, the environment. I just don't understand.

Everyone wear your rubbers, next time you knock up a chick you may have to keep it

  9. I thought it was hysterical, personally.

Though I can see the upside to a mail-order bride.

  10. If you get a mail order bride, and kill her, does anything happen to you? That's legal, right?
