And people like you think that people like me are "not needed". I used my own talent and hard work to put myself through school and get a good job- I created a life I am proud of without expecting a free handout.

    It's all relative.

who realized the impending reversal of the Roe v. Wade decision
Sorry, but I want that taken down on principle and so does Jane Roe of the farce of a "decision" herself. And I'm not interested in the "ends justifies the means" argument in defense of such blatant judicial activism.
who realized the poor decisions on the economy,
    Yep, I'm hurting bad.
    who realized the poor execution of the Iraq war;
I don't want to get into an argument about this, but yeah, they made mistakes. It was faith either way whoever got in would correct for those mistakes and do a better job. I don't know if Kerry would've done a better job here, but I trust Bush more.

I think in the guilt trip here, now you're starting to show some arrogance. You're the only liberal I like & respect on this board Mike, but that really hurt. *sniff* But hey, if you wanna move to Canada, I'll support your "choice" to do it. ^^ But yeah, sorry for being an obselete and pesky reactionary standing in the way of the inevitable imposition of utopian progressive ideals...
I was hopeful. I thought Kerry stood a chance. But, the people have spoken. I can't see any reason to continue caring anymore about the direction that America is heading, since my opinion is not of the majority. I'll get over it, but right now it feels as though there is no reason to live. This was a very personal election for me.
As it was very personal for me. Don't think I'll be sleeping better at night knowing 55,435,808 Americans voted for Kerry.
Take care, you guys. Thanks for being here. I hope other "liberals" and "Democrats" will not engage in name-calling or other childish activities.
I don't doubt that for a second. Look, I'm cautiously happy about this just cause Kerry didn't get in. The GOP is on a tightrope right now and there's a lot to clean up. All the Democrats need to do is just wait for bad news like they've been doing and then begin the hammering. And they're gonna need to hammer hard. Whether on the economy or something like if Osama actually blows something up here sometime in the future instead of releasing another video of Michael Moore plagiarizing, it's all gonna be laid on Bush's feet. I can almost hear the partisan howls of scorn that'll result.

Really, I'm just saying, one or more major event could turn it all around. It did after all help get a Socialist Worker's Party gain control in Spain. I guess what I'm trying to convey here is that the GOP victory is on very very shaky ground and I wouldn't be so pessimistic about a comeback if I was you. I'm not like "gleeful" about this because I know full well the future is uncertain.

Hey, Ironplant, you ever think that you might not have any Republican friends?

Also, the idea that being against gay marriage in any of its forms is divisive is absurd. It's the antithesis of divisive - No State In America Believes That Marriage Should Be Redefined to Include Homosexuals. That's what all of these referendums have proven - America has come together and it has said "no". Easy as that.

Jimmy Carter claimed he was attacked by a giant swimming rabbit while canoeing. That automatically makes him the best president ever.

Not in Ohio. Matter of fact, the black population primarily rose up and voted in greater numbers then ever before (they kept the voting open here an hour+ longer then it was supposed to be because there was a such a huge turnout in East Cleveland) and it was in large part for Kerry. But then, massive job loss in an area that was already plagued with such will help do that sort of thing.

Truth. I don't suppose it would be too much to ask for at least one party to have a decent candidate next time, would it?

    ...Yeah, it probably would.

Gays did nothing more than ask for the right to get married.

People just blew up about it.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

No, they tried to force the nation's hand by turning it into a civil rights issue, when it very clearly was not.

Gavin Newsom and his thugs would be hard-pressed to agree with you. They worked very hard to turn it into a civil rights issue, with civil rights language, "we need to press", "its our time", and so forth. The nation, though, called their bluff and thats the end of it.

  8. Whatever. Two wrongs don't make a right. I wasn't vouching for gay people anyway.

Everyone, including gay people, care about it too much.

They should be able to get married, and it's stupid that they can't, but it's not the most important thing in the world.

Which leads me to my next point: people mix their religion and politics too much here over here. *points to leader of free world*
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

  9. Watch out next time you take that long sleeve shirt off, don't want to mess up your heart.

  10. OmniGear, we're not talking about two wrongs. Gay people pushed the issue too hard too fast. Then people sat down and made it clear they dont want it in their state. That's how it goes. It was just a politically poor move. They figured everyone was gonna say omggaysarerightbushisabigotomg*votekerry*. If Gore was sitting in the White House now I doubt they would've even brought it up. That's it. End of story. I hope I dont hear about it any more for a long time.
