It's ridiculous that the instance is that long. Having a requirement for 40 people to be available for even three hours is bad design, let alone eight.

That's what raidlock is for--it is like a save point. The bosses won't respawn. We didnt have to run for 8 hours--we chose to. MC is an instance that can be done over the course of a week. Killing the same mobs over and over again can get tedious though. Blizzard doesn't want it to be easy to get epics and good loot. If you don't have the time/commitment level to run the instance then you can just be there for part of the run -- a lot of people leave and are switched out over the course of a run and come back on another day. We've beaten bosses with 30 people because we couldn't find anyone to come. And Blizzard is making that 20man raid instance for the more casual players.
