I think that is the lesson to be learned from this survey. if you are creating a new console/platform ... you better have backwards compatibility. (Looking at you Microsoft)

Anyway, I think the reason people play older systems is not because they do not understand new ones. It is just fucking fun to play old systems, simple as that. At my house we play as much NES as PS2. Why? I have no idea, we just do.

Anything Good can be outdated by better things, but truely great things can be timeless. There are few games in each generation that are really timeless.
