Thread: The server is too busy at the moment. Please Try again later.

  1. Yeah, it's not the end of the world, but with the price of RAM these days having only a gig of RAM on a dedicated server is pretty shitty. Don't you think? 1024MB is what, $250.00 these days for DDR400?

My laptop has more RAM than that.

Not faulting you, or TNL, but the server could be upgraded rather easily. I'm sure everyone on the boards would donate a buck or two to upgrade it if that were an issue.

  2. HERE COMES STATS OH NO

Upgraded yes, upgraded easily is another story. Chances are that mobo can only run 1024mb max, so to upgrade ram to 2gb we'd need a new motherboard which means an additional $200 or so, and then who knows if there're any P4 boards suitable to handle that much memory (heaven forbid we have to upgrade to a multiple-thousand dollar xeon setup or some such nonsense)

All in all it means money out of peoples pockets and downtime and headaches and stress ulcers and sad puppies and related materials.

    Hehe, okay.

  5. And, are you pulling rows from tables with hundreds of thousands of records cross-joining other tables with thousands of other rows and sorting them and yadda yadda yadda?

360 select * from table queries is easy as piss, but 360 select table.row1, table.row2, table.rowx, table.rowy table2.row1, table2.row2, table2.rowx, table2.rowy from table, table2 left join table on (table2.row1 = table.row1) where table2.row17 = 2341531 order by table2.rowx asc is going to take time... So please refrain from posting things which you have no knowledge of.

And on this charming note, thread closed.
