You'd make those sounds too if your face was mashed in. Those dogs have a lot of medical problems.

Outstanding, thanks for clearing that up for me. The female pug the guy had didn't sound as wimpy, which I find hilariously ironic.

  3. Didn't feel like making a new thread for a dog question.

I have a Boston terrier/ beagle mix, and she fucking chews EVERYTHING. Destroyed my only pair of nice shoes, and she's on her fourth pair of flipflops and pair of tennis shoes destroyed in the past year. Not to mention mail, any paper, clothing, cushions, plastic toys and the general lot of small hard things.

Today, I wanted to kill her. My brother left without putting her away, and I was asleep. She got into my backpack and destroyed my PSP. The screen has teeth marks and most of the shell has craters all over it. The L button is a wreck, and she ate the analog nub and chewed all around that. I don't know what the fuck to do about this.

How the hell can we make her stop chewing on shit? We give her bones ALL the time, and a shitload of various soft and hard plastic and plush toys to chew on, but she always prefers something valuable instead. We sure as hell punish her whenever we catch her chewing on shit, but it's done nothing.

Any suggestions? If she eats another damn thing of mine I'm about to let her go and hope she doesn't come back.

  4. How old is your dog?
If it's still a young puppy (<1 year) then it is just a phase it will grow out of. The best thing to do is to keep it in your yard if possible, or in a space free of expensive/chewable items.

You may also want to try disciplining it. Although you may be against that, it is the only real way to train a dog, and if you just tap it on the nose sharply each time it does something wrong, it will soon learn better, given that it is not plain stupid.

    Good luck

  5. I really hate pets, because of shit like this.

  6. She's a bit over a year, and she's always done this. We keep her outside all the time, but we had lawn chemicals put on so she's been in the house today. One damn time alone and she destroys everything.

We discipline her just fine. Not abuse at all, but she gets the point. All it's done is kept her from going into the garbage, everything else she does despite any punishment we give. I didn't think this was something training classes would help with either... She already knows all the sit and stay shit, just not 'stop chewing on that you fucker'

  7. This is my dog, Millie.

She is a border collie mix nearly 9 years old, and at first, she used to chew stuff up like shoes, etc, but now she's a great dog and the only problem is the amount she shits.

    Beautiful.

Oh, and if you see a show on TV called "Dogs, why we love them and why they love us" or something like that, don't watch it.

It's like watching a show on how magic tricks are done, it ruins the magic. I willfully forgot all the biology though.

    Love dogs.

Interesting sidenote: My uncle has a cat who thinks it's a dog. Comes when she's called, heels, plays fetch, rolls over and does tricks, chases frisbees (but cant catch them) and just generally shows affection like a dog. Pretty awesome.
