Thread: Tenchu: Fatal Shadows

  1. I like the flaws in the series. Well, some of them. A game where when you alert someone and they are on you like white on rice for the whole time is simply no fun because video game stealth is way clunkier than real life stealth. I say it with SC, Thief (my fave of the three), and Tenchu.

yeah the sword thing was cool. It was also fun to jump out of the water for a stealth kill. Even though swimming was ass.

I like the Tenchu games. I will miss Rikimaru in the new one though.

I like the fact that that ninjas don't carry codecs
Thus sparing us 20 minute long conversations that could be cut down to 3 minutes or less if it wasn't for Kojima's flowerly dialogue and his uncanny ability to take very simple concepts and try to make them sound very deep and complex. When Snake first was introduced to The Boss in MGS3 I wanted to turn the game off after all that "Loyalty to the End" bullshit. I like the series a lot but I hope the new producer on MGS4 is less on talking and more on gameplay.

I'm hoping that Red Ninja game coming out in March is good too.
The game looks interesting, but from the videos I've downloaded it looks like it could go either way.

Speaking of rice, it's amusing that your enemies in Tenchu think nothing of eating food they find on the ground (poison rice balls).

I didn't really like the sheathing/unsheathing thing in T2. None of the new concepts they introduced in that game gelled all that well (hiding bodies, swimming, etc.).

As for jumping out of the water for a stealth kill, I wasn't aware you could do that. Didn't you make a splash and alert the guard? Anytime I touched water in T2 the guards heard it.

  6. I must suck at the internet pretty bad today. I was referring to Diff's trolling.

Anyway, I love the Tenchu games and I've always found them just as cool as MGS. Too bad Snake doesn't have a grappling hook

Best move was luring them with the rice ball and then killing them before they could eat it. Never got tired of that trick, though the next guard was a total moron for trying to eat a riceball with the previous guard's saliva on it.

I'll be on this game like white on rice when it comes out.

  8. Looking forward to this. Everyone always says Tenchu 2 was bad, but hey, it's the only one that let you design levels and for that it rocked! The combat in Wrath of Heaven is head and shoulders above 1 or 2.

    I, too, will miss Rikimaru.

Well, of course. You HAVE to do that, or you're out a rice ball.

The level editor was indeed cool. And I loved Wrath of Heaven.

Ayame's my favorite, but I'll miss the bastard too. Hopefully they'll make Tenchu 5 for the PS3 and bring him back.

  10. You drop a rice ball, then grapple to the ceiling (this is in the PS2 vers too right?), and right when he picks it up, you drop on him and do something cool.
