Actually, in that context Resident Evil can refer to an "evil" that is present where you are (it's taken up "residence", if you will). It's resident where you are, hence it is still a Resident Evil. It means more then just being inside a building, it's simply a location for living (and the evil is obviously living there).

For starters, we don't know the whole story, and what sort of link Zelda might provide to all this. In the end, Zelda is rarely in any of games for any real amount of time anyway (OoT has more of her then all the other games combined), but it's all about protecting her legend. The main title falls under The Legend of Zelda, so even side-stories that don't pertain to her still get the moniker, so you know right off the bat what story series it deals with.

I simply want to play this damn game already. But alas, I must wait...

  10. Let's not try to overanalyze the titles.

As you may already know, Resident Evil was originally Bio-Hazard in Japan, but a group of play testers in Capcom USA decided to change it into Resident Evil due to the game's setting, even though the monsters are not evil demons, but merely the result of an experiment gone wrong, so it's a stupid name change (although, not more stupid than the whole Bison/Barlog/Vega switch).

As for the Legend of Zelda, there is really no meaning behind it. Miyamoto simply liked the name Zelda.
