Own it, it was mediocre.

Platforming sections were simple, bosses were a bit too hard, and I didn't like all the chip collecting.

Megaman Network Transmission 1-3 and the Mega Man Zero series are the only thing Capcom has done right with the series in the last 5-8 years.

That IGN article has two worthwile notions. This:

"retro is cool" design [...] appeals to pretentious hipsters who spend their nights cuddling Moon Patrol.

It's trying not to change so that I don't casually disregard it as different and forget my A button, B button heritage. Unfortunately, the end result doesn't stir up some golden remembrance of why gaming was once so good, but instead reminds me plainly of why I never play my stupid NES anymore.

That is, of course, so long as they aren't refferencing games that I actually like, like Megaman. :P

That the main series has been one big fuck up after X4?

Yea, well, I guess they are right.

But it's good to know no matter how much Capcom butchers the series, and how shitty it sells, that they will always come back with a sequel for whatever reason. There was a reason multiple stores clearenced out Megaman X7.

See, after X5, I thought "well, it's ok to slip up once in awhile". Then X6 came, and it sucked, and X7 sucked hardest of all. Three strikes and you're out. Not to mention the game is callled MEGAMAN X9, not Zero and shitty Axl (HAR HAR guns n roses) X9. Seriously, Zero has his own series now, let Megaman be the star again.

Please, just let the series die. Or maybe go back and do Megaman 9. Wait, or not, I'd like to remember that series as being not shitty either.

What magnifies this even more is that X4 was one of the highlights of the entire series, and then came 3 fuckup's in a row. If X4 wasn't so fucking awesome, I don't think anybody would have cared.

Mega Man Zero really is a triumph, I hope it stays as fresh as possible if any more sequels are planned.

for me, story wise, the series ended with x5. the rest are just kinda bs. but i'll still play'em as long as they make'em. but, if you seriously have a problem with the series, just be happy that zero is around for gba and let it be.
