and don't forget sheild type. .....and robots that cut.....and robots that stop time.the x series is great for all the camoflouge type robots. hahaha.
I know. I wish Capcom would've made a Mega Man 9 to bridge that gap like right after or before X4. Just something to show us the ProtoMan/Zero connection, why MM got frozen away, What up with Sigmas origin(before getting owned by a berserk Zero),etc. But like you said - I'm starting not to give a damn anymore because I know Capcom wont do it. And I fear the Zero series may get the same treatment, with a lack of cohesion in story.Originally Posted by Roufuss

It's so disappointing to see every new X game like the last, I'm pretty sure Capcom handed off the X series to a completely different team that knows nothings about making a quality Mega Man game. There's so much that could be added to make the series fresh, and 3D is supposed to open up new possibilities, not limit the series.
X2 had the X-Hunters
X3 had the different mechs and the ability to play as Zero
X4 had Zero playable with different moves
X5 ...
X6 ...
X7 bad camera, horrible voice acting, new annoying character named Axl

For what it counts for, X5 introduced interchangable armors and X6 introduced the nightmare souls that act like currency.

X5 had the Gaia armor, Falcon armor, and something else. Great ideas but essentially the same old armor upgrade system in MMX split into 2 armors. The most annoying part was that you couldn't use a piece of armor as-is, you could only use its abilities when you had the whole thing.
The other room for potential was exploiting the use of the special armors to get past certain points in the levels. Sure, there were times you needed the Gaia armor to walk on spikes but if you picked the wrong armor going in, you were screwed and you needed to restart the level again. They could've easily made the armors switchable on the fly...
X6's soul system I don't remember too much. I collected them but it felt very hollow, it was never a real gameplay evolution.
