Thread: Possible to make a DVD Audio MP3 Collection?

  1. Possible to make a DVD Audio MP3 Collection?

Fuck the wasteland known as Circut Board.

Basically, I want to listen to a lot of MP3's on my PSTwo when I'm on my vacation.

Is there a way to burn MP3's to a DVD and create, what is in essence, a Audio DVD? I would rather take 2 DVD's than 20 CD's.

Noob question, but there you go.

  2. #2
I don't see any reason why not. Never tried though.

  3. Look at some DVD burning software's options and whatnot. I'm sure you'll find answers there.

i know ive used WMP and burned an entire disc of MW files onto a dvd-r and played it back on my pc. never tried it in a ps2 but i dont see why not. and ive used planty of cd-r's when i played music on my ps2, so again i dont see why a dvd-r wouldnt work.

my dvd burning software just has options for MP3 Data DVDs and WMA Data DVDs I dont think either would work on the PSTwo for what you want to do

  6. The Playback device would need to support the format. Which I have found, not many outside of a PC will.

  7. I think what you're basically asking is to burn a DVD disc as if it were a redbook audio disc, so that it basically works like a CD, but with a lot more tracks, correct? As far as I know, it is not possible to burn a DVD to be a redbook audio disc, and the only way it would work is if a player was specifically created to be able to read and understand a DVD containing that kind of audio. (At that point, though, I'm sure it would be more of a case of the player seeing the disc as a basic data disc and seeing the songs as data files, and not exactly how a regular CD player sees them.) DVD-Audio would NOT be what you want, as the PS2 could not play it, and DVD-A is a very different format.

I think your best chance would be to find one of those PS2 MP3 player discs that can read MP3 files off of both CD and DVD.

DVD audio is just music with surround support (there are 2 types, can't remember what they're called)

Is there anything preventing me from creating a static image, putting a song to it, then burning multiples of those as DVD Movie Files, putting it in the PSTwo and doing that?

Trying to find the simpliest solution here.

Thats entirely possible. It would probably be easier to just embed the MP3 files into menu pages with a bunch of pictures. Just use any DVD authoring software and you're good to go.
