Uhh... Ken Caminiti, a known steroid abuser, also died this year of a "heart attack" at the age of 42. So I would say the chance of this guy dying because of steroid abuse is somewhere between 99% and 100%.

Athletes are going to be dropping like flies for a long time. Its not gonna be pretty.

NFL great Reggie White may have died because of a respiratory disease combined with other health problems, a preliminary autopsy report said Monday.

White most likely had a condition that affected the amount of air his lungs could hold, resulting in "fatal cardiac arrhythmia," said Dr. Mike Sullivan, the medical examiner for Mecklenburg County and a forensic pathologist.

The report issued by Sullivan's office also said sleep apnea may have been a factor.

White had the disease, known as sarcoidosis, for several years, family spokesman Keith Johnson said Sunday. He described it as a respiratory ailment that affected White's sleep.
Apparently it wasn't exactly a heart attack. I had an uncle die from almost the same thing just under a month ago. I'd say there's somewhere between a 99% and 100% chance it wasn't steroid related.

Xeno G linked it but Reggie White was a DL. Those guys (excepting amazing athletes like Jevon Kearse) are often overweight and are not in good shape when they are not playing football.

They may be impressive physical specimens (see: strength/speed tests) but their body fat is often fairly high and their hearts have to work a ton.

And steroids? The NFL takes doping very seriously (see: Lyle Alzado) and does a fantastic job of protecting the game, and more importantly, the players, with its testing regime.

    Are you a sports fan?

If you are, then I assume you have heard of BALCO, and you know that companies and people have spent a lot of money since, well, forever, making steroids that dont show up on tests.

So, are you (A) incredibly naive, or (B) incredibly dumb?

Very true. Without the steroids, KC's death would've been a one in a million thing.

As for BALCO- it's possible that they may make steroids that don't show on the current crop of tests. There's likely a scientist out there in a quest to be rich, trying his damnedest to develop a test that ferrets out "Stealth Juice".

I'd bet that a half of the fights involved in football are fueled to an extent by 'roid rage.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)

When did I say that ppl don't spend money on trying to cover up drug tests?

The NFL does a great job of policing its players (thank you '87 Lockout). Following Lyle Alzado's admission of steroid use and subsequent death, the NFL has gone out of its way to stamp the juice out among its own and in kids at all levels of competition. That doesn't mean ppl won't use. But jumping to the conclusion that the NFL = MLB when it comes to steroids is ridiculous. The NFL imposes hella-tough sanctions (4 games for a 1st time offense?) and constantly stays on top of new tech (they're setting up a new lab out here in the West somewhere).

And outside of Bill Romanowski's involvement w/BALCO, name me one NFL client who got steroids.

The difference b/w the NFL and MLB/Olympics is that the MLB pretends steroids aren't a problem (for the players, the sport or fans) and the Olympics are so corrupt (see: IOC covering up positive drug tests - ever hear of the NFL sitting on a player's tests?).

Want to charge Reggie White = Ken Caminiti?

You've got to have more than "Baseball players do it."

I asked for NFL names. Dana Stubblefield is apparently linked to BALCO and so is Johnnie Morton (KR for Chiefs).
