The topic of the thread is one that should have indicated that more then half of you that posted in here maybe shouldnt have..

That's a good essay. I wish we had a place where we could take humans and euthanise the worthless ones. There'd be more room for the animals then.

I think maybe what Yoshi meant in this post (correct me if im wrong) is that this is a serious issue in America, and if you love animals or just yours in general then this story should spark something in you.

Some of the replies in this thread have shown just how heartless and worthless some of you can be at times...

Yeah, the situation really sucks JMET. But, what the hell can we do about it? With the exception of donating money to animal shelters so they can keep stray's longer everything else pretty much rides on the individual owners to step up and be more humanitarian, get their animals spayed and neutered,and not mistreat their pets.

I mean, I guess shelters wouldnt have to euthanize dogs and cats. they could just let them roam in wild packs on the streets and take over street corners at will.Theres a valid reason for doing what they do.

I realize that people who buy a pet should know that its a life time thing.. thats just common sense, and I also know fully the need to euthenize animals that have no where else to go.

This post was just a reminder that sometimes our actions have a greater effect then we realize, that action may be dumping off a pet because we fill we dont want the responsibillity any longer.. maybe we refuse to get our pet "fixed", or even those who support breeders when there is no need for most breeds to be bred and sold out of newspapers.

I always get sad when I walk past the pet store in the mall and see all the little puppies sitting in their tiny little cages.

Needless to say I was wildly disappointed.

Well yeah, I'm an animal wuss, but not one of those insane rights activists or anything. Our family does donate to shelters and my dad's office sponsors a no-kill pet shelter in their city. There are a lot of places like that around here, I didn't know the kill-shelters were still the only option everywhere else. I can't even think of a pound that euthanizes after seven days or whatever... The worst I know of is this old vet clinic putting them down if after two years they can't find a home.

Eh, we usually get older or stray pets, our puppy being the only exception. We have this fat old cat who is a virus carrier, they were going to put her down soon, she'd been at the place for ages. We took her home. :shrug: I'd rather see a pet not die than get something that will be cute for a month.

So yeah, I like animals and wish they didn't have to be put down, but it happens. People don't neuter their animals and stray populations get out of control. It's just pretty pathetic when you have a pet for a while then give it up because the novelty wore off or something.

Hey man, im a big supporter of the Pit Bull breed and educate people about them almost daily.

Im aloud to be tough and have a soft spot for animals too ya know.
