Yeah. It's basically just a list of my top 20 favorite albums from 00-04, but it was too boring just to list them, so I decided to come up with some categories instead.

    Songs later.

Q about that Wolf Eyes album? Is it just atmospheric noise/sounds or is there anything resembling song structure, voices, hooks or anything? I downloaded some song of theirs not on that album and it was just basically scratching.

  4. Well, this album is probably their most "structured" and produced. Their 100 or so other releases are lots of their Jamouts that they just record and burn to disc and sell at shows.

Burned Mind however is a sound album, its probably the scariest album I have ever heard. Its meant to be listenend to and let your mind drift with imagry. Some songs have beats, some have lyrics, some sound like the dead scraping along the ground. Its atmospheric and FRIGHTENING! Its their best release in terms of song structure most assuridly though. Its very hard to explain, hence the award. I love the album my self, but its a CD that you have to put effort into enjoying. I saw them back in July when they opened for Sonic Youth and I had never heard them before and I thought they fucking sucked ass! Listened to their stuff, and HATED it. But I kept trying it out and eventually got into it. And Burned Mind pulled me over the mound and I really enjoyed it. Give it a listen but don't be suprised if it makes you want to kill something, either from disliking the music or for what the sound does to you psyche.
    Barf! Barf! Barf!

  5. Best album that is awesome and totally great and anyone who doesn't like it sucks:

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus (2004)

    Tool - Lateralus
At The Drive-in - Relationship of command
    APC - 13th step
    QOTSA - Rated R
    Dredg - Liet Motif
Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights
Steven Malkmus & the Jicks - Pig Lib
Grand Silent System - Everyone Lies Alone
    Mars Volta - Deloused
    Cog - Just visiting parts 1 & 2

  7. Best album embodying darkness:

    For Carnation - s/t (2000)

Best organized madness/most illuminating liner notes:

    U.S. Maple - Acre Thrills (2001)

Well, if you're not a fan then this probably won't convert you, but I think a strong argument could be made that it's Nick's best album by far. The lyrics are easily his best, and the gospel choir adds a lot. Since Blixa left before they made this, you can tell they were really trying to prove something with it.
