Thread: Sony's PStwo Requires a Special Multitap

  1. Sony's PStwo Requires a Special Multitap

After getting Guilty Gear Isuka for Christmas and nabbing Onimusha Blade Warriors for $20 last night, I figured it's the perfect time to get a multitap. Now, problem being, the new PStwo just came out, and the original system is nowhere to be found. Because of this, Sony must have figured that we all used our mind powers to metamorphose our old PS2's into the new PStwo. I know I have(n't). This logic must've also led them to stop producing the multitap for the original PS2 models, because I CAN'T FIND IT ANYWHERE. We only carry the new one at Best Buy (the memory card ports are closer to the controller ports on the new two) that doesn't fit in the older models. I have a yankerin' for some multiplayer craziness. Can anyone tell me if I'll ever see a normal multitap again? Hell, can anyone reccomend a good, 3rd party 'tap that won't format memory cards, kill itself, and break my PS2?

  2. How do you think the PS2 sold so well this Christmas? Sony are marketing geniuses. They phase out the original, display a sexy new model, and force everyone to upgrade the system and components (if possible).

As for multi-taps, yeah, same problem. I don't see them anywhere. At LameStop we have only the new one... get asked at least once a day about old ones, but no dice. "Upgrade, fool". Wish I could say that and get away with it.

  3. I'm havent seen a PS2/PStwo in a store since November when mine broke down. I actually want to model 1 since I have so many accessories. HDD, Network Adapter, Flip Top & the stand. I tried selling that stuff but no one wants it so I guess I'll end up buying a used one. Damn you Sony!!

  4. I know the old multitap works fine with the PStwo model if you unscrew the connector, pull the bottom plug out of its "place" and then screw it back together. Might work with the new multitaps and the old PS2s.

  5. Hmmm... maybe, but I don't have the money to go on a hunch. I think I'll wait and see. Thanks, though.

I actually had to explain the fact that the new one doesn't work on old PS2s to the fellow in the EB I was in last night. Good Lord...

  6. I love how Sony does this. There was NO GOOD REASON that the PS2 multi-tap couldn't have also been used as a PSX multi-tap as well.

  7. its the same thing with the dvd remote. cant use the new remotes on old systems, and they dont sell the old remotes anymore.

  8. Thank goodness I got a cheap universal remote for the PS2 from CC a while back.

The new PStwo multitap works with PSone games (when played on the PStwo).
