So there's a good chance he stops in here from time to time. One person said he should be fired....lmao. He does it for free. He has done good covers in the past, but this is not one of them.

That says more about people's expectations than your sense of humor. The first part anyway, that part you just edited in about kevincal has nothing to do with your sense of humor and everything to do with him being a stubborn idiot fanboy.

I do think I need to make it clear though that I still find HCG to be amatuerish and badly designed. Still, to be fair, there is room for improvement. That of course assumes they WANT to improve and aren't just set in their ways.

How would you feel if you paid for the magazine and notcied the quality of the art sliding downhill from the first issue to the current one?

You don't quite seem to grasp that this is not an amateur making a magazine for his middle school friends. It's a commercial product that people (readers and advertisers) are paying money for. Whether he gets paid or not isn't the issue, the issue is what customers think of the end result.

Wolf has never been good at cheesecake girls, nor has he been good at realistic faces. His best work is almost invariably distorted and heavily stylized with no attempt at realism. This is what made him so distinctive in the first place. Yet for the past two covers, we got a close-up of two faces from The Matrix, and a cheesecake cover. He is not good at these, in any capacity, and the end result looks amateurish and does not cast a good light on the magazine.

And again, your little "well you can't do any better" schtick is idiotic. I can't fix a car, but I damn well expect a mechanic to be able to. I probably wouldn't be able to write a horror novel anyone would care about, but if Stephen King is going to charge $30 for his next hardcover then it had damn well better be interesting and scary. I may not be able to draw worth a shit, but unless your name is Rob Liefeld I expect certain things from anatomy and motion in a fight scene between two supposedly beautiful women if it's the cover of a commercial magazine.

Wolf is a good artist. This, however, is not anywhere near his speciality nor is it a good representation of his talents. I hope that next issue he's back to doing a cover that suit his style.

PS: If your sole beef is that you just don't think the cover is that bad, then stop insulting everyone who disagrees. You're not being insulted because you think the cover is fine, you're being insulting because you're acting like a complete twat about it.

Not everyone. I agree that happens a lot, and sometimes it *seems* like everyone. But no, there are a few free-thinkers peppered about on TNL.

The cover is fine. And who really cares anyway? Lots of times I couldn't tell you what's on the cover of the magazine I'm reading. I tend to ignore them, knowing the cover is traditionally just a marketing zone -- essentially just another ad. You want bad covers? Check out the first several years of EGM. Last I checked they seemed to be doing just fine.
