Thread: Hardcore Gamer

  1. Does Gamepro still use that same horrible artist they had back in the 90s?

  2. I like the cover. It's bad, but in a good way. It reminds me of the old days when all the covers were like that.
    Donk

  3. Monitaur lives... And he's flat-panel widescreen now!

Yeah, I noticed that too. Weird. Maybe the little man that lives in my cell touched it up or something. You really need to see it in-person to feel the pain- I remember shaking my head in the book store in disbelief that any mag would actually use that as its cover.

he is either given unreasonable deadlines, or he just doesn't care.
    I'd go with both.

I chucked this particular issue without even looking through it. Like Dole said, if it looks so sloppy and amateurish on the outside, you just assume it's that way throughout.
I still say they should have you do a cover. I'd bet money it'd be 100x better.

Ignorant - since you have no fucking clue of what you speak of. Get the facts before you make idiotic blanket statements and have no idea what the background was, what the staff was, what the financing was, or anything else for that matter. ECM did an unbelievable job considering what he was working with.

Edited to add - I wish HGM the best of luck and everything, but an unpaid staff of writers, perhaps an unpaid cover artist, etc... are very difficult hurdles to overcome and it makes it 10x more difficult to motivate people. They have a tough road ahead of them. I know, I've been there.

  6. I found GameGo's first issue much better than HCG's. Better cover too, even though they chose the shittiest game on Earth to feature (Stretch Panic).

This is incredibly true. Dole, you should post a picture of it. Aside from being incredibly unfunny, it's just sloppy as fuck.

Considering that Gamefan is the only magazine from "back in the day" that I still keep and read (entertaining stuff), I'd say ECM did just fine.

I didn't buy the mag. I just snapped a shot with my cell in the book store so I could prove to myself later that I wasn't having a nightmare.

  10. That cover still isn't as bad as the Matrix one, though.
