Links, for your browsing & shopping needs

I figure this is the best place for this considering the topical links I'm going to provide. I've struggled in the past to find decent links that are informative, sleek, easy to navigate and generally open up new avenues of perusal. I'd appreciate others adding their own links so I can check them out.

I just discovered this one. It's an amazon page that is Japan-centric. Very easy to use and well laid out. Gives you easy access to books, movies, music, fashion and a lot more. There's even a friend finder network with cute Japanese girls for you pervs.

This one is a god-send for me. It's a links page for Arts & Culture, with a lot of very, very good outside links on various subjects covering a variety of things from pop culture to ikebana, . This is an invaluable resource.

    http://www.anime-source.com/banzai/index.php

This is a webmag and public review type community for anime and manga. To me it serves mostly as a 'what's out there anime-wise?' page where I can see descriptions of shows and read people's impressions. I can go here to find out about shows that are not released in the US.

    http://www.discountanimedvd.com/

This is what the address states: discount anime. I've ordered several things from here and never had any trouble with my purchase experience. If there's something you want to see and there's not a US release of it and you don't own an all region player, blah blah blah... you get my drift. But beyond that, their prices actually are good for official releases, as well as manga. And the official release they have are indeed official releases, so don't worry. deepdiscountdvd.com beats their prices sometimes, but if you can't find it on deepdiscountdvd or overstock.com, check here.

    http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/index.html

For official releases of Region 2 dvds and all your anime/gaming soundtrack needs. These are official, so expect to pay official prices. Once again, I've not had any bad experiences with purchases. This is a very professional site. In fact, I have been very impressed with the speed of their shipping from Japan.

    http://us.yesasia.com/en/Index.aspx

For all of your Asia/Japan Official Release needs. Again, very professional, and speedy shipping. For Chinese releases, very good prices on Official releases; they don't sell bootlegs, so don't worry. Primarily I go here for Chinese releases. Get your Jackie Chan and Stephen Chow stuff here. It's set up pretty much like Amazon, so easy to use. There are four main sections: Korean Entertainment, Japanese Entertainment, Chinese Entertainment, and Western Entertainment, so it's all right there for your shopping needs in one easy to use site.

That's it for now. Post yours please.

**edit** It'd be cool if a mod could sticky this. Thanks!

Their articles are wonderfully written, which, to me, is somewhat rare on the internet. I greatly appreciate that they place an importance on that. And, also, that they focus on the films themselves; you will not find two paragraphs moaning about a slight discoloration that blips for a few seconds on a DVD, as you might at many other sites. They have a great deal of reviews and interviews too, such that I stumbled onto some stuff I'd probably consider "favorites" now that I probably wouldn't have known about otherwise.

I’ll use these sites to scope which DVD releases are best (R2 vs R1 vs etc.). I find it hard to find details on subtitle quality (say, if the disc in question is HK R3 or whatnot), but these sites can help sometimes, once you sort through the links to reviews that solely cover slight discolorations or whatnot, as mentioned above.

I used to use CD Japan ALL the time, but then a friend showed me the Amazon JP light. It’s far simpler to use than you’re probably fearing, and the savings on R2s and CDs are usually anywhere from a few hundred to a thousand yen, vs CD Japan.

Just discovered this one recently. They have layouts of cities and lots of obscure shops hidden within, along with descriptions of the goods they sell, the décor, and etc. Fun to look through, especially the distinctly Japanese sounding stores of much of Tokyo.

    *cough*

Will see if I can't think up some more tomorrow.
