Xbox Xbox Next to use cartridges...maybe

Still a rumor, but it has a bit of evidence to back it up. I doubt, though, that they'll be able to develop cartridges that will be able to store more data than the BluRay disks that Sony's using on their PS3.

  2. Although, one thing is pretty clear from patent excerpts--the games themselves won't be on cartridges.
This sounds more like a memory card, than what the games will appear on.

  3. if it cuts down on piracy I am all for it.

We might be in luck, we have an insider.

And if by cartridge they mean "a plastic shell around half of the Blu-Ray disc.", yeah sure, make some by all means.

  7. He doesn't work in that department anymore... at least, that's what he told me last time we played DOA.

  8. Is this part of that rumor I heard, where you would need to do something in ONE game to unlock some things in a totally different game?

Example: If you collected 20 widgets in Fable you could transfer that information over to Halo 2 and unlock a new map.

  9. I don't think MS should be that worried about Blu-ray. Sony game line-up is usally 3rd party and they won't make games that use the blu-ray disc space to the max if they want to port it to a different console. If Nintendo was making games on Blu-ray technology I would worry ,but Sony first party developers are not going to push the technology to the max often enough for people to notice the difference and pick one over the other.

The only real advantage Sony has with Blu-ray is with some film companies supporting blu-ray format ( Like Disney)

I would be happy to just see microsoft actually supporting their memory card, the one thing that bugged me with the x-box was that very few of their games supported the memory card, including soul calibur 2 which pretty much killed it for taking to a friends house with all the goodies unlocked. Part of the fun of having a game is taking it to your friends house and showing them cool or advanced parts of the game, x-box was hands down the worst this generation for that. Not entirely on topic, but somehting that has been pissing me off.
