Exactly, move with the arrow buttons, aim with the analog stick. Perfect for console play. Too bad console FPS' def are NOT as good as PC. Don't get me wrong, I like both, but my Athlon 64 with Radeon 9800 runs them better than any current console, and aiming with a mouse is clearly better than with an analog stick. I have played online console and PC FPS', and the level of play is better on PC. Watch a CS game on XBOX live and one on a Steam server, and you will see. If you are getting a ping of 30-50ms (less than a 20th of a second) you don't even notice the lag. Plus I have yet to see a console FPS with more than 16 players. Play CS with 32 players, or Desert Combat or with 64, then tell me how fun a measly 16 is.

Anyone who doesn't think GE was a badass game never played it in it's day, or compared it to FPS' of the day.

Quake 2 was awesome, and yes, it was the multiplayer. It was the first online FPS I really got into. I miss that game. Anyone wanna start a server?

Well, that's what this whole thread has been doing...
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

Correct, and I was merely adding my opinion. If what you are saying is that my post is not adding anything new to the discussion, then maybe you should ponder the post you just made.

Well, I think the tool is neat. RareWitchProject's done a lot of hacking to pull out shit that Rare hides or forgets to remove from games (CIP, they recently released an Action Replay code that unlocks the "Bottle's Revenge" mode cut from Banjo Tooie). I think they did a nifty job here.
And, hell, I don't like GoldenEye either, and I ALSO think it's overrated. But, I also think it's a good game and that this thread's been derailed to hell. Why, oh why did I think TNL was above this?

No, I was just saying that people obviously have played GE in its day and have compared it to other FPS's of the day and still don't think it's a badass game. Contrary to what you said.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

I'm sorry. I really didn't mean for anything to happen. It's a knee-jerk reaction to the mere words "Goldeneye N64".

  7. I think this whole hacking textures thing is cool.

I never owned Goldeneye, I only played single-player off and on at friends houses along with a bunch of multiplayer. Single-player was okay, multiplayer ranged from between complete shit to decent depending on the chosen setup. Different sized characters, horribly designed explosions, weapons set up too many over-long pecking matches and way too much camping, and I had problems with the over-reliance on auto-aim that people had. I always loved how no matter where I went in the city, whenever I had any group of friends (or friends of friends) turn off auto-aim for a match all of a sudden none of them could hit anything.

Also, God forbid I should be out of the rotation if there was more then four people, Goldeneye is easily one of the most boring multiplayer games ever to watch. At least a 16-player Halo match moves at a pretty good clip and can be cool to see from the sidelines, plus it has none of the pecking + camping + squinting-to-see + idiotic explosions of a Goldeneye sticky mine (whatever they were called) match. Good lord did I hate playing or watching those, it was just one long exercise in tediousness.

Maybe it was just my friends but I never really enjoyed any time with it. *shrugs* Whatever.

Or the way you can shoot from the hip with it for one-hit kills? That weapon sucked balls. I did kinda like PD, mostly just because the multiplayer setups could be hysterically wacky and the briefcase gun was kick-ass.

  8. I remember having a lot of fun with goldeneye back-in-the-day and although like a lot of 3D games it doesn't hold up it can still be fun I think.
