Thread: Someone caught cheating in Halo 2...

I remember reading from an EGM Bungie interview that it would be very difficult for Bungie to fix the glitches because changing the geometry parameters that make up the Halo stages may have unintended consequences with the rest of the game. That's probably why they haven't stated publically that they'll fix it. They're not sure if they can fix without breaking the game.

    That's what QA is for.

You fix the bug, send it to QA and have them test the hell out of it. If it doesn't cause too many problems, you polish it up and send it out.

It's really not that difficult a process. Don't fall for their BS.

I've got a great idea... How about your fellow Bungie employees fix the problem, instead of complaining about people who exploit a bug you should have squashed in QA?
    Nice one. And it's true.

They're acting like this kid is fucking Hitler. He used a bug in a game that shouldn't be there to begin with. Who gives a shit if a Bungie employee was playing or not? "Oooh, you're famous now, inFamousLink..." Give me a break. I applaud the kid.

  4. I highly doubt he was seriously trying to win.
He was probably just being a huge douche.
Which sorta makes the whole thread pointless.

That's what's so hilarious about all of this. I read the same interview, and it's like they outright admit that they have the shittiest, worst optimized, least scalable engine ever created, and then say "well, we couldn't code an engine that can do anything after it is now in your homes, so, you know, lol. Good luck with the cheaters!". Awesome work, Bungie.
Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.

I was playing Rumble Pit, and this guy kept calling me a faggot, and then at the end of the round his white kid ghetto ass was like "Yo, man, why are you cheating?"

I was like "Wtf??," and he said "how do you always kill me with one shot? You're cheating." I'm guessing he had bad lag or something.

I was very confused. Somebody else suggested I was using a GameShark. I suggested they go fuck themselves and went on to another game.

I agree, but I think some of it is a smoke screen.

They just don't want to allocate hours for a programmer to track down the bugs, and a QA team to test the fixes. It would be money spent that they couldn't possibly recoup, and they apparently don't give a damn whether the player has a good experience.

They could have just had an bigger beta, but they decided that in-house was a better idea because it's not Halo fans that fuck around with their controllers for hours on end to figure out a glitch, it's the dude who runs customer service for Microsoft Excell.

I'm sure Microsoft has several game-oriented QA teams, and a good QA tester will try things like that. Keep in mind that these guys break games for a living.

And what a sucking living that is. Bug-hunting and program-breaking are pretty grueling and mind-numbing, and to play the same game over and over again is a task reserved for the lower circles of Hell.
