Thread: DivX fusion

  1. Film DivX fusion

Apparently they've got a new version of the DivX codec in beta testing that allows for DVD-like stuff such as menus, different audio tracks, and concurrent SD/HD versions of videos in a single .avi container. I thought the method of how they went about the menu system was pretty clever (using an xml file for chapter info), HOWEVER it seems that what they gain in features they lose in space as the demo video is 40-50 some megs and is 30 seconds long (even though it has both a SD and HD version of the same clip in it.)

I think for the time being I'm going to stick with xvid and see how this progresses. Your thoughts?

If this will enhance my stolen movie experience then I am all for it.

  3. H.264. As soon as QuickTime 7 comes out, and I get my new computer, that's the direction I plan to look.

  4. If it's going to be bigger than 700mb might as well get a straight dvd-rip of the movie... er, I mean, don't copy that floppy!
