Thread: Thank you Governer Schwarzenegger

  1. Regardles of what anybody said, you don't fucking talk bad about Gov. Schwarzeneggar.
I will. He's basically gutting the educational and social services system of California to avoid raising taxes. That's okay, I guess. Except that California is the richest state in the country yet has some of the worst schools in the country. Theres no reason why California should have schools as bad as a poor shithole like Mississippi.

As for taxes... yea. Proposition 13 and the proposition system in general has destroyed this state economically. Theres no money for schools yet voters approved 7 or 8 billion dollars in extra debt (in the form of propositions written and supported by lobbying groups). Even if youre in favor of the things the propositions are for (like stem cell research), you cant be in favor of it with the economic situation.

Schwarzenegger has been pushing for reforms to the economic laws of California, but the Democratic Legislature and voters havent gone along with it. These changes are necessary but honestly, if someone like Arnold cant reform California's ridiculously bloated, inefficient, and broken economic system, who can?

But back to the original point. He needs to raise taxes. Yea, thats the only solution I can come up with. But he wont, probably because he has a bigger office in mind.

  2. GRAY DAVIS WOULD HAVE RAISED TAXES.

Never going to happen. Even with a Republican majority across the board in Washington, the support to amend the constitutional prohibition of non-native born citizens from holding the office of president isn't there. And, if it isn't there now, it's extremely doubtful it'll somehow emerge in the future.

Besides, if he becomes President then Taco Bell becomes the only fast food restaurant and that would only be cool for so long..
    Time for a change

Whatever. Im not arguing that. Im just saying that hes not raising taxes because he feels like this isnt the end of his political road. He has more in mind (also his speech at the RNC is further indication of this).

I was driving down that way a few weeks ago, I had to get back home because I had work the next day and it was already around 11:30 or so (Arlington, VA to Philly) so I was freakin flying down the 494 Beltway, probably doing close to 95 and the funny thing was, people were still going by me like I was nailed to the ground.
