I wanted to get a job at the GameStop down my street, but all the stories I hear about it scare me. I always saw it as, like, a dream job, but now I'm not so sure...
Because the company hates it's employees.Originally Posted by MarkRyan

You have shitty dreams.

You wanted to get a job at the GameSpot down your street? I wasn't aware websites even hired 16 year olds.Originally Posted by Swift
Opaque (a former ASM) and I know a lot of people who work at Gamestop. Sometimes its great, and sometimes it sucks. If you have cool managers, then it could be awesome. But if you get that one, overbearing asshole running your store, you're fucked.
It wont hurt to try. Drop off an app and get an interview.
Its funny to think about it. We we're so anxious to work at Gamestop before we knew any better.Originally Posted by Opaque

I wish to emulate that man.
If you're really into games then after a year or so there you'll like them a lot less. That makes it worse.Originally Posted by MarkRyan

And that pretty much sums up retail, anywhere. Just because you like the items being sold, doesnt mean your going to like the parade of mindless, stupid, inbred, morons you will encounter on a daily basis.Originally Posted by Randal

The worst part, aside from the crap pay and idiot customers, is being pushed constantly for sales numbers. Every month a different company pays your store money to push their shitty game, no matter how bad it is. So you're basically going to have to either omit facts about bad games or flat out lie to people to meet quotas and whatnot.
It's kinda fun selling bad games to idiots, actually. By worst part, I meant the best. The worst is definitely the crap pay and closing. Man, I hated closing.
