Infected!

I got the new Game Informer today and was leafing through the PSP launch segment they had. They covered a game called Infected! that really caught my interest. Initially because of the studio backing it, who's responsible for such games as Giants: Citizen Kabuto and Armed and Dangerous.

It's an action game with an interesting twist: There's a virus that's driving people mad and turning them into violent monsters. As the main character, you are also victim to the virus, sans mutating. Your job is to run around the city, killing these abominations with bullets made from your own blood.

But the really cool thing is this: You batter them with conventional weaponry, then switch to your gun that shoots those special blood bullets. When you do, you set off a chain reaction that can lead to entire groups of enemies exploding in a giant fountain of nastiness. It's got an almost puzzle-game like chain system to it, and it looks very intriguing.

Multiplayer is also looking to be pretty interesting. When you defeat your opponents, they catch your "virus" as a sort of trophy. The more people you beat the further your virus spreads, and it earns you "points."

That's an interesting concept, and certainly the type of thing I like seeing the PSP used for.

I picked Infected as my most anticipated PSP game back in an older thread about a month ago. OPM had a cool write up on it last issue.
