Thread: Silent Hill The Movie

  1. Film Silent Hill The Movie

    Taken from DarkHorizons:

"Producer Don Carmody has revealed the storyline of the upcoming movie based on Konami's psychological horror video game Silent Hill on his official website. Here is how its described:

"A woman desperate to save her dying child finds herself trapped in an alternate reality as she searches for her daughter in a dangerous world of demons. Rose cannot accept the knowledge that her daughter Sharon is dying of a fatal disease. Over the protests of her husband, she flees with her child, intending to take the girl to a faith healer. On the way, she ends up driving through a portal in reality, which takes her to the eerie and deserted town of Silent Hill.

Sharon disappears in Silent Hill, and Rose follows what she thinks is her daughter's silhouette all over town. It's soon clear the town is not like any place she's ever been. It's inhabited by a variety of creatures and a living darkness that descends and literally transforms everything it touches. The human inhabitants--the ones who are left--are trapped and fighting a losing battle against the Darkness.

Joined by a cop named Cybil, who has been sent to bring her and Sharon back, Rose searches for her little girl while learning the history of Silent Hill and that Sharon is just a pawn in a larger game. To save her daughter, Sharon makes a deal with a demon in the form of a little girl, and allows the forces of darkness to take the town and destroy those who tried to destroy the demon. In the end, she saves her daughter but at a high price."

The film will be directed by Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf) from a script by Roger Avary."

Interesting. Cool that they sticking with the storyline similar to the original SH, and even keeping some of the names from the game. Except for the Cybil being outsider cop, and not the resident of SH.

  2. I like it. It's not related to the stories of the other games but it very much is in the same style and spirit. It easily seems like something Konami would come up with.

Sounds like the writer/director are going on the right path...hopefully they can just make the movie totally over the top freaky and disturbing. I mean, this movie needs to be insane.

Well that and they change Harry to a different chararcter.

Goddammit keep it a guy. There is no reason it needs to be a girl.

No, I don't, and the movie doesn't really take any elements from Silent Hill 2, either.

  8. since almost every horror movies rips off some kind of Sfx from these games i wonder if this will be an over the top, blantant mix of all of them?

Or it'll just look like Jacob's Ladder since Silent Hill ripped off its look from that.

But it's not Harry, and it's a seperate (albiet similar) story. Why does it matter? Besides, I don't want a direct retelling of Silent Hill... I already know how that plot goes.

  10. I never played the games but they did seem interesting enough (never liked the RE style of game too much, doesn't mean it can't be a good game though), maybe the movie will be good, sounds like it will be to say the least.
