A far-fetched speculation, but the man ain't dead -- he's simply severed his association with the forums indefinitely and such. It's very likely that his personal life is encountering some really serious crap. I saw him recently on my AIM list about a week or two.

Matt's been on the fence about being a part of this forum community for nearly 2 years now. I am sure if he feels compelled to get involved again, he'll do so with little intervention from any of us.
