Run "cmd" first. Then run "ipconfig."
When I try to fun ipconfig a command line window opens for a second and then closes right away. Kinda frustrating, as I'd like to check it out.
Which brings me to my next question: is there anyway to dynamically change my IP address even though I'm on a school network and obviously don't have admin priveledges? I'm guessing no, but I'd like to know for sure.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.
Run "cmd" first. Then run "ipconfig."
If its your machine, you can config your TCP/IP settings by the "Properties" command from Network Neighborhood, I think. You might not be able to specify an IP, the net admins may have disabled it, or bonded a specific IP for your ethernet port's MAC address, or someone may be using the IP you put in.

You can go to microsoft's website and download "WNTIPCFG.EXE" here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000...wntipcfg-o.asp
It gives you the GUI that was used in Win 9X. Not any different than using ipconfig, but more convenient. You can try release/renew to see if you get a different IP. If now, then it could be bonded to MAC/static/etc.
Sorry, I didn't know that was common knowledge.Originally Posted by Rich
