I created some boards for my site and ahve been tinkering around with them for the last 2 days. Invision is very flexible for a free board, and the support is great. I hope to eliminate the ads when thigs pick up a bit for me financially, as I really like how easy to use they are.
I'm probably going to add a couple of skin options next. I just put in the buttons today.

IPB is a really great piece of board software. I don't think it's quite on the same level as vBulletin, but it's still good. I've bot 2.0.3, but it would be bad for me to dist it.
I still use its old perl counterpart, ikonboard. But, I dunno. I played with Invision a little bit when it still used to be free. Thought it was alright, but at the time, I wasn't looking for a msgboard solution that involved a database backend for various reasons. I think if I get a chance to upgrade to something free, I'll go with Simple Machines.

Invision is what I use for my boards. (If you want to take a look at what I've done with it.)
You're using v1.3, which isn't nearly as good as 2.0 - but of course, 2.0 is no longer free. Searching is far better in 2.0, and far better than even things like vBulletin so far as I'm concerned. Another thing I like about Invision board over other boards I've tried is that I think it is easier to do better customized themes with Invision board. There are still a few areas that I think need to be fixed (a few options are still hardcoded, and I'm the type that wants to get in and change EVERYTHING.)

Very nice job. VERY nice. Have you released that "theme"?Originally Posted by shidoshi
This is true. I've been screwing around with 2.0.3 to make it so that you can mod everything. Not much progress so far, but when I get it a little further along I'll probably toss it back up (re-encoded of course) on my site.Another thing I like about Invision board over other boards I've tried is that I think it is easier to do better customized themes with Invision board.
