Dreamcast bootdiscs for VGA boxes and backups

Howdy.

I'm looking for a dreamcast bootdisc that supports both VGA boxes AND backups. I've already tried utopia 1.2, and I only see the reineer image when the dreamcast is hooked up using composite NTSC connections. Otherwise, when I use VGA connection, I get a black screen, or a message from my monitor saying "No VSYNC Signal."

Bear in mind, I've already tried gameshark cdx, and it works in VGA but it doesn't support backups, and I've tried codebreaker - it too works in VGA but it doesn't play backups, either.

I know that utopia 1.2 SHOULD work with VGA boxes - maybe i have a bad version of utopia 1.2? Other users have reported that their DC's work with utopia 1.2, and I want mine to work as well. Can Anybody point me in the right direction? Or, can anyone recommend an alternative bootdisc that plays backups AND supports VGA output?
