Thread: NEW PayPal Fraud - I freaking HATE PayPal...

  1. NEW PayPal Fraud - I freaking HATE PayPal...

Just wanted to drop this tidbit off on anyone who sells on ebay and sends internationally.

DON'T SEND VIA AIRMAL!!! I cannot stress this enough. Most people on the forums will realize if they want tracking and insurance they will need to pay up for EMS. However, no one uses EMS due to the high expense, Airmail is typically 2/3 or 3/4 cheaper.

The fraud is right there in PayPal. They require you to supply a tracking number in case of a Buyer Complaint. So what happens? Buyer pays for auction via PayPal, wants Airmail, then claims to PayPal that they never recieved the item.

It doesn't matter how much proof you fax or scan for them, they require a tracking number. I'm out close to $300 because this has happened 4 times in the past month.

Don't let this happen to you! Just wanted to warn the community!

    Thanks,
    Andy

PS: for anyone who actually wants free games, there you go. I'm not going to do it, but maybe if no one sells internationally anymore Ebay will shut the Buyer Protection down...

  2. I sell internationally and just sent an item via Air Letter Post. Even tho there is no tracking, there is customs number. But I dont think that does any good. I'll have to watch out now. I sent a bluetooth wireless headset that I sold for my cousin, AshnVictor, over a month ago, and the person said he hasnt received it. Never had I have a package take so long. If he received it and is lying to me, he cant do anything anymore as the 30 day policy has passed.

I will keep an eye-out tho. THanks.

Man, that is some sucky shit

  4. Well this sucks, and right when I was about to get into the whole eCommerce thing.

  5. Eh, International orders are the rare cases for me, and I've never had a problem before... I've been using Paypal for a long time and I've yet to have a single problem.

(By the way, shmup-o, do you still want those games from me? And do you even read PMs?)

I've never had a problem with international PayPal/Ebay transactions until this last batch of stuff. Hell, I've never had problems in general with PayPal until now. The nice part is, I'll be on the phone with Cust Service:

Me "Yeah, I have the reciept and a copy of the customs form when I sent the item"
PP "Do you have a tracking number?"
Me "No. But I have proof I mailed it."
PP "But do you have a tracking number?"
Me "No, they didn't want to pay for EMS. They chose to risk it. I didn't force them to get Airmail, they chose Airmail over EMS."
PP "I'm sorry sir, but it's the seller's responsibility to send with a tracking number."
Me "Wait. So you're saying that they didn't want to pay for tracking and it's MY responsibility to give them a tracking number a week later?"
    PP "Yes."
Me "Why are you even involved with this? They paid me for the item and Airmail, I took said item and mailed it via Airmail, and the Post Office screwed up. Now it's MY responsibility?"
PP "That's what the PayPal terms and conditions state"
Me "So you're telling me I can go buy anything I want off of Ebay, get Airmail for shipping, recieve the item, then tell you guys that I never got it, and get my money back?"
PP "If you want to be one of THOSE people sir..."

And then I lost it on them right there. Same conversation, 3 different phone operators. God I hate PayPal.

And yes Nomi, I still want the games. I'll get you the money somehow. Probably PayPal

    Wait... they're cool with this?

    *runs to ebay*

  9. Doesn't the tracking number provide the proof that the package arrived? That's what it does, I thought.. like you type in the tracking number and it says:

    - Item left bay at 12:00am
    - Item on freeway 1:00pm
    - Item Arrived at house 2:30pm
    - Signed by 'Name'

    Am I missing something?
