Thread: I was wrong

    It depends on the situation.

If you have a PC good enough to play recent games then PS2 > XB.
If you don't have and can't afford a new PC then XB > PS2.

Not buying that. The Xbox doesn't get enough of the good PC games to make up the huge gap in console-only exclusives. How many good PC games go to the Xbox and not the PS2? It's a short list. Doom 3, KotOR, and Republic Commando are the only ones that come to mind immediately.

Most people don't need 20 new games a month to play, just a few they really enjoy (especially with online play through Live).

I'd be fine with just an Xbox. All I've played since November have been PC and Xbox games anyway.

We're not talking about Madden suckers here.

Well... If you like Guilty Gear and Street Fighter a lot, Xbox isn't so bad. There are quite a few good reasons to own an Xbox, like Panzer Dragoon Orta, Jet Set Radio Future, Metal Slug 3, and at least a few multi-platform titles, like Beyond Good and Evil that look better on Xbox than PS2. Besides the system being so massive, i kind of like it. It's built in hard drive is useful, and being able to copy my cd's to it is neat, if not kind of useless. (yeah, i know i can listen to them as a soundtrack in some games but why couldn't i otherwise?)

=_= But really... If you wanted a dvd player, why not just buy a Cyberhome for $35 at Target and buy the system that has the most games you want? I've had one for more than a year. It has a few hiccups, but i figure for $35 i've gotten my money's worth.

  6. The title of this thread is apt because you chose xbox over ps2.

Upcoming Half-Life 2 is the most important one assuming they don't screw it up, Max Payne, Riddick, Deus Ex: IW, Morrowind, Armed & Dangerous. More important is having the best versions of multiformat games like Beyond Good & Evil and the GTA series if you take the PC out of the picture.

Actually, you're probably right. The more I analyze and think of all the PS2 exclusives I would likely pick the PS2 but I do think the Xbox is excellent for those behind in PC technology.

Personally, I need all the consoles and the PC for my gaming wants. It's expensive but I like too many games.

I agree with both points here. The PS2 absolutely has to be the console you have if you only have one, but if you have a PS2, then the Xbox is a nice watered-down PC.

There are certainly exceptions, but every multiplatform game I've got I'd rather have on PS2 because of the controller. I've got Guilty Gear X2, Legacy of Kain: Defiance and Metal Gear Solid 2 on Xbox, and I'd much rather have the PS2 versions. The only multiplatform title I have that I'm glad is on Xbox is Colin McRae Rally.

    (Most multiplatform games suck anyway.)

  10. I guess you could call any console a watered-down PC. What are consoles, besides that, with funny controllers? It's the feeling, i guess. If an Xbox is a watered down PC for having PC ports, then a PS2 is the poop of Xbox, since anything that goes to both Xbox and PS2 is going to be garbage in comparison. (assuming the developer actually uses the thing)

I mean, come on. Xbox has enough good exclusives and non-pc content to be considered alright.
