You need to get out and do shit yourself. Trial and error.

So either, you don't know how to use a search engine ... or you are looking for a free handout.
Seriously, do you expect to learn something like this through a message board?
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Remember, if I'm working on my own site, I'm not here posting.
LJ or anything like it, isn't going to fucking cut it, so don't post links to any of that shit.

ultrashock, cg news and kirupa teach people how to do stuff all the time, so it's not like it's hard. But this community is gaming, not multimedia, programming, web developing or design, so it's a lost cause.

But for what you're asking for, Ironplant, you should just use blogspot or live journal, since what you're describing is exactly why they offer the service they do. Yes, I read your little disclaimer, and I don't care. There's no reason for you to go through all the trouble of creating a domain and whatnot if you're just going to be able to do it quicker, and more easily with tools already available to you on the internet.

Also, who's going to realistically read a blog by you? Probably your friends and maybe family, 1 or 2 people from TNL and a few bloggers who love to write without the knowledge of deadlines or English.

Otherwise I'd just go the Dreamweaver route, it's easier and speeds processes that take longer to type out up (cut and pasting links into the box is infinitely faster than coding them by notepad). Basic websites are incredibly easy to make.

Yeah, I kind of meant TNL specifically.

I'd like to be able to post maybe, a few 100 pictures of concerts and events I go to. I'd also like to post reviews of albums and movies. I'd like to have all of this orgnized and look nice.

This thread is nothing like having your hand held. It is like if my car's alternator went bad and I asked someone knowledgeable what I need to know to fix it.

I want to know, from people in the know, how to get started. There is nothing wrong with that.

There is a difference between being pointed in the right direction and having your hand held.

  9. IP, did you actually check out Xanga, because if you had, I think you'd see that you can actually host pics with it (via a premium account), and do all of the stuff you'd mentioned in your original post (minus pic hosting), with a free one.

  10. I agree with the people that mentioned Xanga and LiveJournal. You should just get a Xanga account for now. And post whatever you want to post. Use Photobucket for your pictures and albums and link them to your Xanga. Learn some html to edit and customize the look of the page and your posts, and after you know enough to start making a real website, then make it.

Or just get HTML4 for dummies or go to some of the sites already listed. www.htmlite.com has some stuff too. Gotta learn html, I say.
