Thread: The best platform games nobody cares about but you

  1. Treasure's games are the most overrated of the underrated.

Feel free to quote me on that.

"demons crest for the snes, beautiful platform action game, only hurt by having a password save system."

Heh. Sure passwords are a bit less convenient now.. BUT when your other SNES games start losing all their save data because their save batteries are dying (which should be around now, roughly ten years from when the came out), you'll be GLAD for password backed games ;-D (you can replace the batteries, unless of course you can't solder like me

    And yes Demons Crest rocks

yes, but my handwriting is about as good as you would expect it to be, so i lost a lot of saves that way, i lost a metroid save after offing both ridley and kraid and had to start over again. hell, actraiser 2, one of the best games ever i had to go through 3 times before i could finish it. now that wasnt too bad since the game was so good, but certain stages got repetitive when i really wanted the story to progress.

  4. Ugh. I didn't realize Cave Story was a PC game. I guess I won't be enjoying this one anytime soon.

Not that I'll have the disgusting amounts of free time I had this last week. Moving back into my dorm today.

Yeah that's one of the main reasons why I decided to chuck aside my copy of zelda 64 and pick it up the master quest for gamecube.

Now I just have to get majora's mask.

    Ya damn right.

I figured you would be using emulation to play most of the suggestions anyway. What's the difference?

I have a Mac and I don't have Virtual PC on hand right now, so... I'm out of luck on that one.

  8. One time while scouring the shops on Canal St I found a bin of 4 dollar Sega CD games. Amidst the pile I found...WonderDog.

It feels like an early PC platformer (loose controls, cut-out graphics) but it's actually decent. I'd need to play it again though to give it a proper synopsis.

Bug wasn't very good at all. It was probably one of the worst 3-D platformers of the 32-bit era. I'd recommend Burning Rangers over it anyday.

  10. Three of the ones I was going to mention have already been brought up:

    Demon's Crest
    Actraiser 2
    Clash at Demonhead

The other one I was going to mention is the Krion Konquest for the NES. Very good game that is really similar to the NES MegaMan games.
