Considering most falling piece puzzle games are derived from the basic design theory behind Tetris, Tetris.
Tetris
Lumines
A friend and I got into a pretty heated argument today over which was better - Tetris or Lumines. I was behind Tetris, and he was behind Lumines. I think Lumines is a great game and all, but his argument was that since if it's newer and more advanced, than it's better. It's 2005! Of course it's going to be more "advanced", but that doesn't mean it's better! Anyway, I know it's stupid getting in an argument over something as dumb as puzzle games, but I'd like to know the opinion of my fellow TNLers. Which is it? Tetris or Lumines?

Especially because I haven't even played Lumines.
They're both good games, but Lumines is more fun to me.
I just don't think anyone could spend nearly as much time with Lumines, as people most likely have with Tetris. I mean I love Lumines and all, and I have played it for over an hour already today, but Tetris has the infinate depth and infinate lastability going for it that I feel Lumines doesn't.

Having not played Lumines, I'll go with Tetris, since I don't see anything without Puyo Puyo topping it, ever.

If we're going to play that game Puyo Puyo 2 is exactly eight million times better than Puzzle Fighter.Originally Posted by MechDeus
So I've heard but I've never played enough Puyo to get into it, probably because I've never owned any of them. Maybe one day I'll borrow my roommate's NGPC copy and go at it.Originally Posted by Frogacuda
It's like comparing Super Mario Brothers 3 (Tetris) to Rayman (Lumines).
Both are great games ... but one is FUCKING SMB3.
