Thread: Digital video editing programs

  1. Digital video editing programs

I have a Sony digital camera (P100) that also has an MPEG video mode (640x480 at 30fps). I was planning on maybe dicking around with the video mode and making some little home movies. The camera came with an editing program called Pixela ImageMixer, and after reading up on it on the net, it seemed to be a decent program. So I check out the disc that came with the camera, and it's the fucking Mac version.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good, fairly inexpensive digital video editing program that I can pick up. Pixela ImageMixer seems good but you have to order it from their website, and I'd prefer just picking up something at a store. I want to be able to string together seperate clips, choose starting and ending points of said clips, do transitions, import audio, etc. Any help would be cool.

  5. And it does everything I was asking about, no problem? The thing I'm curious about the most about is the audio editing...can you add background music without erasing the audio that was already there (talking, etc.). What about sound effects?

Oh definitely. I just showed a documentary I made to my film class yesterday (the life of a videogamer) and the editing took like 8 hours, only because of extensive footage I had shot. And yeah, there is heavy dialogue with background music.

Sound effects you can definitely add as well.

You can also speed things up, and slow things down, and all this other cool stuff.

BTW, hope you have a lot of RAM because you will need it

btw, you can adjust the audio settings as well so the background music does't drown out the dialogue.
