FFXI is the worst MMORPG released in the last few years. Go play WoW, SWG, Guild Wars, or even EQII, which is the worst of the real MMORPGs.

I have a level 45 theif I'm thinking about recovering.Part I of "Return Home to Vana'diel" is a special campaign just for players who have already unsubscribed from PlayOnline. For a limited time, we're issuing these players registration codes free of charge to allow them to come back to PlayOnline, play FINAL FANTASY XI, and even recover and play their old characters from before!
The campaign will run from 4pm PDT Thursday, April 14 to 4pm Wednesday, July 13, 2005 (planned).Hopefully they've fixed the grouping system for higher levels, because it became almost impossible to find one.

WoW is great. My roommate and another friend of mine are completely addicted to it. But there's just something about Final Fantasy that draws me. I love the depth of the combat system, and I love the group set-up for this game... also the story and environments are pretty cool.... I don't know.......if I can't get back hooked on this game , I'll probably check WoW out...
Different tastes I guess. The combat system and the group set-up is what I hate about FFXI.

You didn't like skill-chains?The lower levels kinda suck because nobody understands group dynamics yet. But higher level grouping was insanely fun. What level did you stop playing at?
30-something. The group dynamics aren't unique though. The same jobs exist in almost every MMORPG, and the environments and universe are more interesting.Originally Posted by Hardknock

I did like how pretty it was, how stable it ran, and how well the world economics flowed. It had all the basics down, it just wasn't very much fun to play at the lower levels and took way too long to get to the higher levels.
Which reminds me, I need to reinstall PlayOnline so I can cancel my account.
Not having Villains playable at launch rendered that PoS unplayable for me. Now they want a full $50 for it when it does come out? Give me a break.Originally Posted by frostwolf ex

Don't hate on FFXI. True, you find your self with a green ! above your head for what seems like hours Post 35 (and this is as a bard, which gets invites faster than anyone). And it does get boring after awhile, and earning money in that game is slower than earning money in real life, but at least it's one of the only MMOs I know that doesn't require a massive CPU setup and runs on dial up.
You don't have to be smart; you don't have to know the facts, you just have to be confident.
