What's that? Mark Ryan doesn't like a completely amazing game?
What else is new?
Yeah, Avalanche was alright. Really short courses, but not too bad of a game anyways. It was a much better sequel from 1080 than Blue Storm was to WaveRace.Originally Posted by Rumpy

Completely amazing? Geebus. The game is as mediocre and stale as just about anything else EA produces.Originally Posted by Opaque
I'm shocked to find there's a game that I actually agree with MarkRyan on. SSX3 was okay, but there was so little involved in the actual racing that made having to beat the same course three times a chore, especially when the first two times didn't really matter. The trick system was just plain dull. The only thing I really enjoyed was the on the spot challenges, but finding and hitting some of them was a pain in the ass. I think Tricky was a better game overall, or at least less boring.

I thought the level design in 3 was a lot better than Tricky. Less "out there" there courses, like that one that was in Japan that you could ride gusts of air to the top and ride a series of rails down (it was like 3 laps too. You were teleported to the top when you got to the bottom). I really hated that level.
Everything that was enjoyable in Tricky was made better in 3.
Same here. At first I thought it was really awesome, but it was too "out there" and it lost its appeal fast. 3 had a lot of courses that were just a notch over realism which made the whole game more interesting.Originally Posted by Rumpy
And I LOVE the whole "ride the entire mountain" idea. They just need to let you have even more freedom for me to like the next one. Multiplayer Slalom (sp?) with skis could be a riot. Oh man, I hope they give a good presentation at E3.
