It can add challenge and replay value too. You can see what you can do to get an achievement and then try for it. Like for Geometry Wars, there is an achievement for staying alive for the first 60 seconds without firing. Took me about 25 minutes to do it, and that's something I never would have thought to have tried without the suggestion.
What Rumpy said. The only thing I have to say against Achievment Points is that they aren't uniform per game title. Like I can earn 1000 pts from a really easy achievement on game A but only 10 pts for beating something on super hard mode in game B. I do like the system though because some of the challenges are unique and fun AND you can compare your achievements to others on a game by game basis. If it's an online shooter with an achievement for "20 headshots in one game" for example and you see that in their player profile you know the guy is good (aside from the in game leaderboards).
No they didn't.Originally Posted by Dragonmaster Dyne

I stated that in my experience (not casting a blanket statement on anybody, or being holier than thou) that people who thought they were pointless EITHER didn't get it, or hadn't tried it.Originally Posted by Dragonmaster Dyne

PS: You can hate on something you haven't tried, yes, but in this case you only go "aHAAAAA" when you give it a go. No need to drop the money, just make a profile at a friend's house and check it out.
I also thought the achievment thing was gay as hell when I heard about it. But now that I played I always enjoy the blip sound when you pick up another one. Its fun. So what that I dont earn anything for getting them. I like being able to see what everyone else has accomplished in their games also. Its fucking cool. I like playing my 360. I'm glad I bought one. I do not regret buying it at all. Hell, if I regretted it so much would it be the only system I've played since last November? I pretty much should just sell off the Cube, PSTwo and Xbox. I like the 360, I like the achievment B.S. I guess since I probabaly won't buy a PS3 when that launches I should run to that thread and post over and over how gay it is and how everyone says they like it just to justify spending $600+ on it.
Dyne's whinning and bitching is almost coming off as jealousy now. WTF Dyne?
