At what bitrate is AAC transparent?
Oh yeah, congrats.
No, sadly, my intelligence level is still hovering somewhere below the average, but I'm now a Mac Genius. You know, one of the guys at the Mac store that fixes the computers and stuff. I went for my interview in the middle of April and finally heard back from them this week with the good news. I think my combination of hands-on-experience and already being certified helped a lot for me, but I don't think thats the only criteria.
If anyone was interested in doing what I do, I don't think it's something where you need tons of experience to get hired. From what the recruiting director I spoke with told me, I gather you can come in with very little knowledge and a desire to learn and still have a good shot. Since there's at home study and then two weeks of training at Apple HQ in Cupertino, I think they'll cover everything.
In any event, I made this thread for anyone else who has also switched jobs recently. I'm hoping to turn this into a discussion about why you went somewhere else and your plans for the future.
I left the AASP because of the lack of benefits and the hideous drive I was undertaking (50 of Los Angeles' worst miles each way every day). I'm hoping to get a lot of knowledge and experience managing with my position (since I'll probably know more than many of the other new hires I'll be training with, I'll be a mentor of sorts) and then move on up in the company. It should be good. Apple has a really great benefits package, from health insurance to 401k and other stuff. Really something I'm looking forward to. I'll be finishing my training and then opening a new store here in SoCal.
Anyone else? Even if you didn't switch companies, but just hopped departments, that's cool.

I recently got hired at a Volswagon dealer, detailing cars. Starts at the same base-pay but there's actually oppurtunity for advancement (unlike my current job) so in a few months I could be getting much better pay if I work hard.
I'm also thinking of taking another job at a factory that pays experienced machine operators $15/hr to start to run the same machine I'm running for $8/hr. I'm not sure if I can or want to handle two full-time jobs though.
im still carving out the living in grocery, and getting occasional hours at the group home(its a secure hoem for court referred teenagers where we try to use various behavioral therapy techniques to straighten the kids up and eventually get them reintegrated into society as somewhat functional individuals who wont stab you, its more fun than it sounds, so far nobody has tried to stab me, and i approve of that trend). the hours are really intermittant but at least its counting for experience time.hopefully next month will be my practical 6 month anniversery so i can start putting in for a more stable full time position as a counseler.

I'm also trying to get back into school this fall and finish my last few credits for my damn Associates and maybe continue on to the BA (I doubt it though).
Good luck with your new gig.
I was recently promoted from Editor to Editor-in-Chief of Guides/FAQs/Cheats. I do pretty much the same thing as before, except now I've got a couple people working under me and I now manage freelancers. Decent pay raise, but I still can't afford the insurance on a new Dodge SRT-4!! Guess that's what I get for being under 25.
