Thread: New Kirby Game for the GC

  1. I never played the Kirby games for their difficulty...
I never did either, but the games were, as I said, quite trite and lacking in any sort of design flair. The swallow enemies/take their powers gimmick is delightful but hardly used to its full degree. The levels, on the whole, felt like the end result of a gaggle of amateurs trying very hard to emulate a Mario game, take your pick of what one. Kirby's Adventure is the lone exception, it is the one and only Kirby platformer that fired on all cylinders, though it was very easy, by design I imagine.

It shouldn't go for more than $10, and there are a lot of mini-games (and a couple of full ones) to play.
Truth be told, Ive no idea where my SNES is. Emulation may save the day, however.

  2. I agree with you on the powers not being used to their fullest potential, although Kirby 64's massive item comboing stuff with them was nice, it still didn't feel all that fleshed out. The dude can swallow damn near anything and shoot it back at his opponents, and yet he can't really do much more than shoot fire and ice. Super Star probably plays well with an emulator, although some of the mini-games might be hard with it, the full ones should be okay.

  3. a Kirby game always signifies the end of Nintendo's systems. Like a final funeral bell before they're lowered into the grave.

    RIP Gamecube

You're right. It happened right after Kirby's Air Ride was released in 2003.

  5. I agree with Diff. Kirby games have a lot of potential, but the actual products are mostly worthless. They play like My First Platformer.

Agreed. The impressions i've read from the Japanese version sound like the best use of the DS yet.

After the excellent Smash Bros Melee, I expected a lot from HAL on the gamecube, but they've dissapointed since. Heres hoping they get this one right.

  7. Kirby Dreamland 3 was a fantastic game. Each level had a special objective that you had to meet in order to really complete it, and that made it a blast.
Overall, though, Kirby is way too easy 90% of the time. The only Kirby game I hate is Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. What a piece of trash that was.

    Holy shit, you're right!
    NES: Kirby's Adventure
    SNES: Kirby's Dreamland 3
    N64: Kirby 64
The Game Boy doesn't count. Like the Grimmace, it never dies.

I'm guessing that, unless it's a handheld, Nintendo tells Hal they can do whatever they want after they're done making Nintendo's shit for them. Then, Hal says, "Sweet!", grabs a joint, and makes a Kirby game.

  9. :: looks at screens ::

Hm, yes. I think that will do just fine.
    Barf! Barf! Barf!

  10. So what the hell ever happened to this game?
I wasn't all that interested in it when it was announced, but given the quality of the DS Kirby game and the lean list of upcoming GC releases, I'm starting to come around.
