That is so not legal in any way...
Has anybody tried this service? It purports to give you free, legal emulation of NES and 2600 games, and for as little as $5/mo, give you access to Genny and SNES games.

This is the most sound reasoning I've ever read.
EVAR.
I'd never buy their service, but the way they are executing it is pure brilliance.
I would assume they have multiple copies of each game, so more than one person can 'rent' a game at a time. At least I would hope they would.

This whole fucking thing won't last a week and I refuse to believe it existed in 2001 when NOA supposedly sent them that letter.
You can only transfer the copy along with the original, so this is illegal. However I am sure they are breaking many other laws before they even get to this provision.Lease, Sale, or Other Transfer of Additional Copy or Adaptation.
- Any exact copies prepared in accordance with the provisions of this
section may be leased, sold, or otherwise transferred, along with the
copy from which such copies were prepared, only as part of the lease,
sale, or other transfer of all rights in the program. Adaptations so
prepared may be transferred only with the authorization of the copyright owner.
Supposedly they were shown on G4 and lauded.
It seems to me that this is similar to taking a music CD I buy at the store, making a "backup copy," renting out (or selling) the backup copy while swearing that I'm not using the original copy, so only one copy is being used at any time. I doubt Sony would agree that is legal.
