Thread: GEARS of WAR

  1. GoW is the first game I've played in a long time where the graphics blew me away. RS:V looks good, but not as good as GoW imo.

Believe the hype. I haven't had a HOLY SHIT! that looks awesome! moment in years. GoW has actually un-jaded me a little.

Also worth mentioning is that the controls are butter smooth. There is a learning curve, but it's not that steep, not at all. New (to me anyway) play mechanics like quickly rolling and ducking behind stuff for cover make this game fun. Also, the bleed-out idea is genius.

  3. I haven't tried the reload-minigame thing - it looked like it works like the old golf games where you have to hit the A button when the meter is over the right spot - is that right? I didn't even read the manual and just jumped right into the game so I don't know for sure.

I wish I were home playing GoW Stupid work.

I'm in my home office, and GoW is just down the stairs. That's even more torture.

At least you can "take a break" and play a few games. But yeah, that is torture.

Yeah. Hit the right bumper once to start it, hit it again when the line is over the white or gray area. If you hit in the grey area, you reload quick. If you hit it in the white, you reload quick + get a small damage boost to your ammo. And if you hit it when it's out of those areas, your gun jams and you take a second or two longer to reload.

I've made it a point to just fire a shot or two before encountering anyone, then try for a perfect reload for the stat boost. Could make a difference in a firefight later.

  8. The co-op game is fun. The bro and are are trying it on the hardcore difficulty. It runs insanely well co-op and if it does look worse co-op splitscreen I cant tell the difference.

Oh yeah, you guys are going to think I'm fucking nuts but Call of Duty 3 looks REALLY nice too. That was totally unexpected......

I'm sure the gaming press will give it to Twilight Princess. But I agree with you.

Thanx thats what I was doing. My first time through I did it flawlessly but died. Everytime after that it wouldn't move at all no matter how much I pushed it. Spent like 30 mins trying to get through that part, gave up shut the system off came back like an hour later and breezed through it again with no problems. I'm thinking it might have been a glitch.
