I'm not necessarily praising FEAR over Gears. Building on bloodyarts' comment, I'm saying that the atmosphere of FEAR is more powerful than the atmosphere of Gears, which makes FEAR a more emotional experience for me....which in turn makes its atmosphere and immersion much more effective.
Putting it another way, I never got scared once in Gears, whereas I am in constant dread while playing FEAR.
They're both great games, but deliver very different experiences. I think they're equally excellent in what they're trying to do, and personally, I think FEAR delivers its experience better.

Gears isnt trying to scare you, FEAR is.
It's an action game. Not an action/horror hybrid. I think the fact that GoW is using RE4's camera is messing with all of your heads.
<3 FEAR
<3 <3 <3 GoW
I'm sorry, but are you on fucking crack? Up there with Halo? This game shits all over Halo's co-op, and I loved the co-op in Halo 2. And stop comparing this game to FEAR, they have nothing in common except you shoot and kill people. And FEAR's level design was ass. I got so freaking bored going from office floor to office floor and shooting the same damn group of enemies by going into slo mo every single time that it offered almost no strategy or difficulty.
