Thread: SSX On Tour

  1. Two questions:
    1. Is the AI in racing still have the power of teleportation?
    2. To get the highest score in the trick comps, do you still need to hop around like an idiot to build up the combo meter?

Re: #2. Ha. I used to do that for fun in Free Ride. The highest I've ever reached was probably a 240~ or some odd combo. It was just back and forth manuals though.

  3. Now I'm sad I sold my copy of 3.

  4. I'm not so sure how I feel about most of the game (other than the ultra-high contrast UI, while looking slick, drives my eyes nuts after a while), but I have to go f*****-chan on you all and just state that what they did to Kaori in this game is borderline criminal. Silly character before (being a caricature of a stererotypical Japanese girl, as commonly seen in anime), but now she just sounds and looks horrible (and in a horribly accented English to boot)... ugh.

This also means they got rid of one of the random little details in the previous SSX games that I thought way more videogames should be doing -- characters no longer speak their native language.

  5. Kaori was my favorite character from SSX Tricky throughout 3. I saw what they did to her in the On Tour trailer, and I was most displeased. Why tinker with something perfect? If she's really that bad in the game I might throw a fit.

    I liked Kaori too.

Anyway it doesn't matter. It's not like you can actually use her in the main game or anything.

  8. I've had this since yesterday but didn't get to play it (WoW AMIRITE?) How's the music? I like the stuff like teh Royksopp song and the Fatboy Slim in 3, and Finished Symphony in 1. PLZ TELL ME THEY R OK!@1

  9. Ok my evaluation is that EA decided since everyone seems to like THPSU1/2, they'd adapt that kind of wierd goofy theme, character creation, and a similiar soundtrack.

    I dun like that XD

  10. After a few hours into the game I'm starting to like it more and more, just takes time to get used to it.

A few changes are it's a lot harder to get max boost, in fact I haven't even it done it yet, I don't know if it stays maxed or what but the bar has 3 stages. Green where you can't do supers, once you hit the end the bar turns yellow (or you can get a green boost thing which automatically takes you up a level) and then you can keep building it to turn it red, what happens at full red I don't know.

Stat increases now rely on the board you get, the best board costing 2 million $ for max stats in everything (See combo boards).

THe create a character system I have a female snowboarder and a male skier, the faces suck and hair suck, everything else is fine. THe outfits, plenty to choose from, shirts/pants etc are all pretty cheap. Don't worry about hairstyles at the start, you can change them afterwards at the barber shop.

Overall the game itself seems just as good as SSX 3, it's just everything else is different from what I"m sure we all expected.

Also something that I do like, SHortcuts are no longer determined by MASSIVE glass boards that say SSX on it.
