It's still manages to be better than the Jag and 3DO because of Space Harrier, After Burner and Virtua Racing. But that's kind of the problem with the 32X. Like seth said, its best games are available elsewhere.

I just started playing Knuckles Chaotix again. A decade ago I was very unimpressed with the game since I expected it to be as good as the Sonic games which isn't. On its own though it's actually pretty good once you get used to the elastic band gameplay. Stylistically it's one of the coolest games ever.

Knuckles Chaotix was stupidly easy. I beat it like the first day I got it.

  5. Kolibri is a beautiful game, and Shadow Squadron is nice. But overall, this is the beginning of the end for Sega (as a hardware manufacturer).

I'm not sure what you were expecting. It wasn't arcade perfect, but it was shitloads better than the Genesis version. The graphics and audio were definitely superior in every way.
It wasn't better than the SNES version by leaps and bounds, but it's still the best home port, since the Saturn version is ass.

  7. The beginning of the end for Sega was the botched Saturn release, 32x would have been at least as successful as Sega CD if it had more than a few months to exist.

  8. There should be ZERO love for Chaotix... I rented it back in the day, and felt like I was playing an incomplete game. The levels had poor design with a handfull of enemies... LAME. With that said, I had a lot of fun with most other 32x games, heck I even liked the 32X CD games.

  9. kof, I'd say that the Sega CD started that trend. You could even go as far back as the Game Gear if you wanted. The 32X definitely started the "EVERYONE IS FUCKING PISSED AT SEGA" mentality, since they said it was a stopgap system and priced it highly for one.

I downloaded a rom of it and thought I got an alpha or beta version by accident. Then I got the game for a couple dollars...
