That reminds me of a joke about what exactly do you serve at an Ethiopian restaurant...? But it's probably in poor taste and Bob Geldof would hate me for it so I'll stop here.Originally Posted by Masaka

More on Austin:
For Enchiladas, absolutely nothing beats, Arredondo's Enchiladas and by nothing, I mean nowhere. At all. Jorge Arredondo is seriously an Austin Legend. He sold his name, recipes and restaurant in the mid-80's, but his son runs Arredondo Enchiladas and he's got his father's goods. Jorge's is still around and they still rock, and they still have one of the top Margarita's in town, but look for Arredondo's. Just remember to ask them to put beef inside for the best results.
This is Barton Springs, a natural spring fed swimming pool where the water stays like 72 degrees all the time or something.

Zilker Park is kind of like our Central Park. While it's the normal place for families to take their kids on any given weekend, lots of festivals are also held their, like the Austin Kite Festival. This pic just shows one section of the park during a music festival. Much of the park is wooded. There are soccer pitches, softball fields, and a disc golf course. Barton Springs is here and there's a Botanical Garden as well.

From the Botanical Gardens:
Mayfield Park Is a great place for a date or just to take your significant other to relax and look at flowers and ponds and peacocks/hens.
Krause Springs is another natural spring fed swimming hole. The place is smaller than Barton Springs and the water is colder, but it's nice:
Krause Springs:
South Congress/SoCo District: This is an eclectic shopping, eating and entertainment area on South Congress Avenue. Good for an evening stroll. Stop into Lucy In Disguise/Electric Lady Land.
More to come!

That's more of a touristy place though. I was introduced to a lot of awesome hole-in-the-wall eateries by my gf's family, and a couple of awesome beaches.
One beach we went to was mostly rocks/tidepools and we got to walk around and play with an octopus.
Oh, last year we went to Brigantine beach here in New Jersey, and swam with hundreds if not thousands of these. It was cool, and a beautiful beach.
I don't know why Diffx hates Jersey so much.

The beach is only 25 minutes away! .... In Oceanside.
Family Putt Putt (formerly Family Fun Center), where our arcade machines are busted, the mini-golf sucks, and the go-karts are borken down.
