Get the lowdown on Sega's arcade volleyball game for the GameCube

My appointed sidekick Riisuke and myself tried out Beach Spikers for a bit, and it was pretty fun, although there are some things that I didn’t find too great. The first thing I noticed was that the sand deformed to the player’s movements, just like in Virtua Fighter 4. The graphics are all great, and the animations are terrific. The gameplay itself is very simple, using only one button, with a secondary button for serving. While the B button is used for underhand serving, the A button handles just about everything else in the game. While digging and volleying is actually very responsive, the one thing I didn’t like at all was the fact that it was incredibly hard to actually block a spike. Otherwise, it was a pretty fun game. Although I didn’t spend too much time with this game (about 4 matches in total), I can definitely see potential in this game, and I can’t wait until it’s released this year.
